Names as the assistants wrote them, grouped when they meant the same business. One run per question: answers change from run to run, so treat this as a snapshot. We are not affiliated with any business listed and don't rank or endorse them. How we measure

What ChatGPT and other assistants named for US CRM software

Our data On October 14 we asked ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot six questions a US small business owner might ask when looking for CRM software. All 24 answers came back, and together they named 30 different tools. 8 of them were named by all four assistants, and 14 appeared only once.

One name was in every answer: HubSpot was named in all 24, by all four assistants, at an average position of 1.7, so usually first or second in the list. Pipedrive followed in 18 answers, Zoho and Bigin in 16 each, Freshsales and Monday in 12 each, and Salesforce in 11. All of these were named by all four assistants. This is one run per question, so read the counts as a snapshot, not a ranking.

Across the broad questions, the same group of tools appeared repeatedly. The remaining names varied by question and assistant.

Several names for one company

The answers did not always treat related product names as one name. "Zoho" and "Bigin" were counted separately and often appeared side by side. The same happened with Freshsales and Freshworks: Freshworks appeared in 3 answers, all from Gemini.

The alternatives question named Salesforce first

The question about alternatives to Salesforce for a small business in the United States included Salesforce itself first and HubSpot second in all four answers. After that came Zoho, Pipedrive, Freshsales, Bigin and Monday. Only a few smaller tools appeared in that answer, such as Close CRM (ChatGPT and Google AI Mode) and Copper CRM (ChatGPT).

Narrow questions opened the list

The smaller tools showed up mainly in the narrower questions. Less Annoying CRM was named in 6 of 24 answers, by all four assistants, in the questions about simple lead tracking, low cost and quick setup, plus once in a general question. OnePageCRM was named in 4 answers, 3 of them from Copilot, which put it first for simple lead tracking. For the most affordable CRM, Google AI Mode named Bigin first, while ChatGPT and Gemini started with Zoho.

Where the names come from: websites cited for US CRM software

Our data CRM answers were heavily sourced: 23 of 24 answers carried links. The only exception was Gemini's answer to the Salesforce question. The most-cited websites were forbes.com (6 answers), hubspot.com, reddit.com and youtube.com (5 each), then techradar.com, fitsmallbusiness.com, salesforce.com, slack.com, fayedigital.com and capterra.com (4 each). pcmag.com and uschamber.com followed with 3.

Vendors' own sites were part of the mix. Besides hubspot.com and salesforce.com, the answers cited pipedrive.com and bigin.com (2 each) and, once each, zoho.com, monday.com, onepagecrm.com and nutshell.com. ChatGPT in particular cited many small comparison sites: its answer about simple lead tracking linked to 9 different domains, most of them little-known review blogs.

Review platforms appeared, but in one place: capterra.com, g2.com and trustradius.com were cited in the question about reviews and reputation, and capterra.com also in two of Copilot's other answers. So the names rested mostly on "best CRM" articles from business and tech media, the large vendors' own pages and community threads.

Where CRM software is usually listed and reviewed (advice): software review sites such as G2, Capterra and TrustRadius; comparison articles in business and tech publications; the app marketplaces of the tools you integrate with, for example an email, calendar or accounting platform; and communities where small business owners and sales people discuss their tools.

How buyers ask about US CRM software

Our six questions covered a general recommendation, simple lead tracking, the most affordable option, trustworthy reviews, setting up today and alternatives to Salesforce. Real buyers usually add their team size, industry and the tools they already use. Questions worth testing, written the way people type them:

  • "Best CRM for a small real estate team in Florida that works on a phone"
  • "CRM that connects to Gmail and QuickBooks for a small marketing agency in the US"
  • "HubSpot or Pipedrive for a three-person B2B sales team?"
  • "Simple CRM for a home services company in Texas that tracks quotes and jobs"
  • "Which CRM has a real free plan for a solo consultant in the US?"

Test the questions where your product differs from HubSpot and Pipedrive.

The same six-question test was run for neighboring businesses too, for example accounting software and website builders.

What a CRM software company can check about how AI assistants name it

Advice: these checks are concrete and can be done in a few days. None of them can promise a mention; they make it easier for anyone writing or answering about your product to describe it correctly.

  1. Make the pricing page readable as text. Price per user per month, monthly versus annual billing, minimum seats, what the free plan includes and where it stops. Price questions were one of our six, and roundups quote these numbers.
  2. Publish honest comparison and alternatives pages. "Your tool vs HubSpot", "Pipedrive alternatives", "Salesforce alternatives for small teams": state real differences in price, setup time and features, with a date, and keep them current.
  3. Give each job its own page. Lead tracking, sales pipeline, email sync, quotes, a mobile app for field sales: one clear page per job, saying who it is for. The smaller tools in our data appeared in the questions about specific needs.
  4. Use one product name. If your company and product have different names, say plainly on your site how they relate, as the answers mixed Zoho and Bigin, Freshworks and Freshsales.
  5. Check the roundups that were cited. Open the Forbes, TechRadar, Fit Small Business and PCMag articles that appear in your own answers. Are you included? Are your plan names and prices current? Many publications accept corrections.
  6. Keep review profiles current. On G2, Capterra and TrustRadius, check your category, pricing, screenshots, recent reviews, and that the product name matches your website.
  7. Make "start today" true and visible. One question asked for a CRM that can be set up today. Sign-up without a sales call, trial length, whether a card is needed and how to import contacts from a spreadsheet should all be easy to find in text.

How to check if ChatGPT names your own CRM

Write down the questions your buyers ask, including the ones where you are the better fit, and ask several assistants. Note which tools are named, in which order and which websites are cited, and repeat after a few weeks, because answers change. CheckAI checks your own customer questions across the same four assistants and shows the names and cited websites for every answer; a first check on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode is free.

Questions

Can a smaller CRM get named by ChatGPT next to HubSpot and Salesforce?
In this run, yes, but in fewer answers. Less Annoying CRM was named in 6 of 24 answers and OnePageCRM in 4, mostly in questions about simple lead tracking, low cost or quick setup. The broad CRM questions returned the same few names.
Which websites do ChatGPT and other AI assistants cite for CRM software?
In our answers: forbes.com (6 of 24 answers), hubspot.com, reddit.com and youtube.com (5 each), then techradar.com, fitsmallbusiness.com, salesforce.com, slack.com, fayedigital.com and capterra.com (4 each). Your own questions may bring up different sites.
Do G2 or Capterra reviews matter for being named by ChatGPT?
We cannot say how the assistants weigh them. In this run capterra.com was cited in 4 answers and g2.com in 2; g2.com only in the question about reviews and reputation. As advice, a current profile with your real pricing is worth checking, since buyers read these sites too.
Should we publish a "Salesforce alternatives" page for AI assistants?
We did not measure the effect of such pages. What we saw: the alternatives question returned Salesforce itself first, then the same group of large names. As advice, an honest comparison page with prices and differences in plain text answers a question buyers do ask.
