Names as the assistants wrote them, grouped when they meant the same business. One run per question: answers change from run to run, so treat this as a snapshot. We are not affiliated with any business listed and don't rank or endorse them. How we measure

What ChatGPT and other assistants named for Phoenix dog trainers

Our data On October 14 we asked ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot six questions a dog owner in Phoenix might ask about dog training. All 24 answers came back, and together they named 35 different trainers, schools, stores and organizations. 6 of them were named by all four assistants, and 14 appeared only once.

Rob's Dogs was named most often, in 14 of 24 answers, 5 each from Google AI Mode and Copilot. AZ Dog Sports followed in 13, Phoenix Dog Training and Behavior Center in 10, Fit Dog Training in 9 and Nate Dog Training in 8. Rob's Dogs, AZ Dog Sports, Phoenix Dog Training and Behavior Center and Nate Dog Training were named by all four assistants; Fit Dog Training by three, not by Copilot. This is one run per question, so read the counts as a snapshot, not a ranking.

For a local dog trainer, this was a fairly concentrated picture. A group of five names came up repeatedly, and the answers were short: most named between three and eight businesses.

The specific question had the clearest answer

The question about severe leash aggression produced the most agreement. ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot all put Phoenix Dog Training and Behavior Center first, and Google AI Mode named it too. In the question about basic obedience, all four named Rob's Dogs, and ChatGPT and Google AI Mode put it first.

Stores, shelters and the alternatives question

Some names were not dog training schools in the narrow sense. Petco and the Arizona Humane Society were each named in 5 answers, mostly in the question about affordable group classes; PetSmart was named in 5 too, mostly in the question about alternatives to PetSmart. Asked for alternatives to PetSmart for professional training, all four assistants named PetSmart itself first; the rest of those lists came from the same local group plus a few names that appeared only there. Dog Training Elite appeared under several location names, which were counted separately.

Google AI Mode answered with Maps

Our data Google AI Mode answered 5 of its 6 questions with Google Maps places, 24 in total. They had an average rating of 4.89 stars and a median of 168.5 reviews; the smallest had 42. All 24 were rated 4.5 or higher.

Where the names come from: websites cited for Phoenix dog trainers

Our data ChatGPT and Copilot attached links to all 6 of their answers, Google AI Mode to 2 and Gemini to none. The most-cited websites were thephoenixreview.com, a local "best of" review site, and phoenixdogtraining.com, the site of Phoenix Dog Training and Behavior Center, with 5 answers each. trustanalytica.org, another list site, and azdogsports.com followed with 3.

Below that, most cited sites were trainers' and stores' own pages: dogtrainingelite.com, mikeburkeldogtraining.com, pawsative.dog and the store pages of Petco and PetSmart with 2 each. yelp.com and rover.com were each cited once. ChatGPT's answer about basic obedience cited 10 different websites, mostly small directories and list sites.

The cited sources in these answers included local review lists and trainers' own websites. As advice, explain your programs in plain text so a visitor can confirm the details on your site.

Where US dog trainers are usually listed and reviewed (advice): Google Business Profile (it feeds Google Maps), Yelp, Nextdoor and Thumbtack; pet service platforms such as Rover; the trainer directories of certifying organizations such as CCPDT or IAABC, if you hold their credentials; and the referral lists of local vets, shelters and dog daycares.

How dog owners ask about Phoenix dog trainers

Our six questions covered basic obedience, severe leash aggression, affordable group classes, certified trainers with great reviews, puppy classes with openings this week and alternatives to PetSmart. Dog owners usually ask with the dog's age, breed or problem and their part of town. Questions worth testing, written the way owners type them:

  • "Puppy class in Scottsdale for a 4 month old golden retriever"
  • "Board and train in Phoenix for a reactive German shepherd"
  • "Dog trainer in Mesa who comes to my house for leash pulling"
  • "Indoor dog training classes in Phoenix for summer"
  • "Positive reinforcement trainer in Tempe for a rescue dog with anxiety"

Put in your area, the problems you solve and the formats you offer. A question without a place may return trainers in another part of the valley.

The same six-question test was run for neighboring businesses too, for example veterinary clinics in Seattle and gyms and fitness studios in Chicago.

What a dog trainer can check about how AI assistants name it

Advice: these checks can be done in an afternoon. None of them can promise a mention; they make the facts about your business easy to find and hard to misread.

  1. Give each problem a page. Puppy basics, obedience, leash reactivity, aggression, separation anxiety: one page each, saying how you work and who it is for. The aggression question had the clearest answers in our data.
  2. Name your credentials in text. State each certification, the organization behind it and since when you have held it. One question asked for certified trainers.
  3. Describe your methods. Say plainly which training approach you use and what a typical session looks like. Owners often ask about this before booking.
  4. Publish prices and formats. Group classes, private lessons, in-home sessions, board and train, with prices or price ranges. One question asked for affordable group classes, where store chains and a shelter were named.
  5. Show the class schedule. Next start dates for puppy and group classes, vaccination requirements and how to book. One question asked for openings this week.
  6. Keep the Google Business Profile complete. Category, service area, hours, photos and reviews. Google AI Mode answered 5 of 6 questions with Maps places.
  7. Check the local lists. Look up thephoenixreview.com, trustanalytica.org and Yelp for your area. Are you listed, and are your name, address and services correct?

How to check if ChatGPT names your own business

Write down five or six questions dog owners would ask, with Phoenix or your part of the valley in the question, and ask several assistants. Note who is named and which websites are cited, and repeat after a few weeks, because answers change. CheckAI checks your own customer questions across the same four assistants and shows the names and cited websites for every answer; a first check on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode is free.

Questions

Do Google reviews matter for a dog trainer to be named by ChatGPT?
We cannot say how each assistant weighs reviews. What we saw: all 24 trainers that Google AI Mode showed as Maps places had 4.5 stars or more, with a median of 168.5 reviews and at least 42. Asking clients for a review after a course is reasonable anyway.
Does it help to mention dog trainer certifications on my website?
One of our six questions asked for certified trainers, and the names given were mostly the same group as in other questions. We did not measure the effect of certifications. As advice, name each certification and the organization behind it in text, so it can be quoted correctly.
Why are PetSmart and Petco named for dog training?
Both were named in 5 of 24 answers, by all four assistants: PetSmart mostly in the question about alternatives to PetSmart, Petco mostly in the question about affordable group classes.
How can I check whether ChatGPT names my dog training business?
Ask several assistants the questions dog owners ask, with your city or area in the question, and repeat over a few weeks. CheckAI does this with your own questions across four assistants; a first check on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode is free.
