Which Seattle veterinary clinics do ChatGPT and other AI assistants name?

What the answers show about vets in Seattle

Our data On October 14 we asked ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot six questions a pet owner in Seattle might ask when looking for a vet. All 24 answers came back, and together they named 43 different clinics and services. 21 of those were named only once, and 5 were named by all four assistants. For a local trade, that is a fairly concentrated result.

Urban Animal was named in 14 of 24 answers, by all four assistants, and its average position was among the first two names. North Seattle Veterinary Clinic and Mercer Street Veterinary Hospital were named in 9 answers each, then Veterinary Emergency Group and Fremont Animal Hospital in 7 each; Fremont Animal Hospital was named in 5 of Copilot's 6 answers. This is one run per question, so read the counts as a snapshot, not a ranking.

The assistants gave lists of similar length: ChatGPT 26 names across its 6 answers, Gemini 29, Google AI Mode 32 and Copilot 33.

The alternatives question named Urban Animal first

The question asked about an alternative to Urban Animal for routine dog care. ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Gemini all named Urban Animal itself first, then other clinics. All four assistants named Mercer Street Veterinary Hospital in that answer, and Copilot put it first.

Emergencies and cats: clear agreement

For the question about an emergency vet open right now, the answers were remarkably consistent. All four assistants named Veterinary Emergency Group and Emerald City Emergency Clinic, and three of them also named Timberline Veterinary Emergency & Specialty, Animal Medical Center of Seattle and South Seattle Veterinary Hospital.

For the question about a clinic for anxious cats, all four assistants put Cat Clinic of Seattle first. ChatGPT and Google AI Mode also listed several other clinics with cats in their names. As advice, state any focus clearly, such as exotic pets, cats, dentistry or end-of-life care.

The question about affordable care brought a different kind of name: Seattle Veterinary Outreach, Seattle Humane and the spay and neuter clinic at the Seattle Animal Shelter, next to general practices. Urban Animal was named here too, by three assistants.

Google AI Mode answered with Google Maps places

Our data All 6 of Google AI Mode's answers came as Google Maps places, 31 in total, and none of them came with web links. The clinics averaged 4.7 stars, 87% had 4.5 stars or more, the median number of reviews was 502, and the clinic with the fewest reviews had 116. That does not show that reviews are the reason a clinic was shown; it records the figures for these places in this run.

Which websites the answers cite for veterinary clinics

Our data ChatGPT and Copilot attached source links to all 6 of their answers; Gemini and Google AI Mode attached none. The most-cited website was bestinhood.com (7 of 24 answers), followed by checkbook.org, the consumer ratings site, Seattle Humane and the Cat Clinic of Seattle's own site (3 each). Several "top rated" and local list sites came next with 2 each, such as afinderly.com, yably.com, pawgrades.com, vetsinseattle.com and seattletoprated.com, along with reddit.com and the sites of the two emergency clinics named by all four assistants.

So in Seattle, the cited sources were mainly local list and ratings sites, plus the clinics' own pages for emergencies and cats. For the affordable care question, ChatGPT also cited seattle.gov.

Where US vet clinics are usually listed (advice): Google Business Profile (it feeds Google Maps), Yelp, Nextdoor, Consumers' Checkbook where it covers your area, and the hospital locator of AAHA if your clinic is accredited. If you hold a certification such as Fear Free or Cat Friendly Practice, check that you appear in their directories too.

How pet owners ask AI assistants about vets in Seattle

Our six questions covered general recommendations, anxious cats, affordable care, trust and experience, an emergency open right now, and alternatives to a well-known clinic. Pet owners usually add the animal, the problem and the neighborhood. Questions worth testing, written the way people type them:

• "Vet in Ballard with Saturday appointments for a new puppy"
• "Exotic vet in Seattle that sees rabbits"
• "How much is a dental cleaning for a cat at a Seattle vet?"
• "Fear Free vet in West Seattle accepting new patients"
• "In-home end-of-life care for a dog in north Seattle"

Use your own neighborhood, the animals you treat and the services you want to be known for. A question without a place in it can return clinics in another city.

What a veterinary clinic can check to show up in AI answers

Advice: these checks are practical and most can be done in an afternoon. None of them can promise a mention; they make the facts about your clinic easy to find and hard to get wrong.

1. Make urgent care rules unmistakable. Whether you see urgent cases the same day, your hours, and where you send owners after hours, by name and address. Emergency questions were where the assistants agreed most, so a general practice should say clearly what it does and does not handle.
2. State your focus in plain words. Cats only, exotics, dentistry, surgery, end-of-life care, fear-reduced handling: give each its own section or page. For anxious cats, all four assistants named a cat clinic first.
3. Say whether you take new patients. Many owners look for a clinic that accepts new pets now. Put it on the homepage and update it when it changes.
4. Give price starting points. Exam fee, common vaccine packages, a range for dental cleanings, and any wellness plans. One of our questions asked for affordable care without sacrificing quality.
5. Complete your Google Business Profile. All Google AI Mode answers here came as Maps places. Check the category (veterinarian, or emergency veterinarian if you are one), hours, holiday hours, photos and parking information, and reply to reviews where it helps.
6. Check the list sites that were cited. Open bestinhood.com, Checkbook and the other Seattle "top rated" pages. Are you listed? Are your address, hours and services correct?
7. Keep names consistent. If you are part of a group or changed names after an acquisition, use one name with the same address everywhere, so owners and directories do not split you into two clinics.

How to check whether ChatGPT names your veterinary clinic

Write five or six questions pet owners would ask, with Seattle or your neighborhood in them, and ask several assistants. Note who is named and which websites are cited, then repeat in a few weeks, because the answers change. CheckAI checks your own customer questions across the same four assistants and shows the names and cited websites for every answer; a first check on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode is free. Our guide on how to check if ChatGPT names your business walks through the manual version.
