Names as the assistants wrote them, grouped when they meant the same business. One run per question: answers change from run to run, so treat this as a snapshot. We are not affiliated with any business listed and don't rank or endorse them. How we measure
What ChatGPT and other assistants named for Phoenix electricians
Our data On October 14 we asked ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot six questions a Phoenix homeowner might ask about electricians. All 24 answers came back, and together they named 47 different companies. 26 of them were named only once, and 6 were named by all four assistants. This is one run per question, so read the counts as a snapshot, not a ranking.
Simple Electric was named in 13 of 24 answers, Star Light Electric in 12, Mr. Electric of Phoenix Metro in 10 and Gideon Electric in 8, each by all four assistants. Parker & Sons and Phoenix Electricians Today were also named by all four, but each in only 4 answers, one per assistant. Some companies came from a single assistant: Arizona Electrical Solutions was named in 4 answers, all by Copilot, and Ignite Electric LLC in 3, all by Google AI Mode.
For an electrical contractor, this means a handful of names recurred in the general questions, but more than half of all companies named appeared once. Being in one assistant's answer said little about being in another's.
The EV charger question was a different market
The question about electricians who specialize in installing EV chargers at home returned almost a separate list. Simple Electric and Star Light Electric, the two most-named companies overall, did not appear in it. ChatGPT and Google AI Mode both named EV Charging Solutions first and MaxCharged third. Copilot named eight companies, none of which appeared in the other three answers to this question. Gemini's list included two companies that do plumbing and air conditioning as well as electrical work.
For a company that wants EV charger, panel upgrade or solar work, this is the useful finding: specialist questions can bring up specialist companies, and the general "best electrician" questions do not tell you how you appear for them.
Emergency and alternatives
For "a reliable emergency electrician in Phoenix available for quick same day service", Google AI Mode, Gemini and Copilot all named Gideon Electric first; ChatGPT named Coppertown Electric first. Several names in these answers read like search phrases rather than company names, such as Emergency Electrician Phoenix.
Asked about alternatives to Parker & Sons, ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Gemini each named Parker & Sons itself first. A couple of entries in ChatGPT's lists were labels rather than companies, such as "EV charger installation services".
Google AI Mode answered with Google Maps places
Our data All 6 of Google AI Mode's answers came as Google Maps places: 30 places in total. Their average rating was 4.9 stars, every one had 4.5 stars or more, the median number of reviews was 234, and the place with the fewest still had 60.
That does not show why a place was included. It only describes the places in this snapshot: they had very high ratings and at least a few dozen reviews. The data does not show how a different rating or review count would affect an answer.
Where the names come from: websites cited for Phoenix electricians
Our data ChatGPT and Copilot attached source links to all 6 of their answers, Google AI Mode to 4, Gemini to none. The most-cited website was consumeraffairs.com (10 of 24 answers), followed by angi.com (7), expertise.com and thumbtack.com (5 each), bestprosintown.com and homeadvisor.com (4 each), and reviews.birdeye.com and threebestrated.com (3 each). Individual electricians' own sites were cited far less often, mostly once each.
So for Phoenix electricians, the cited sources were mostly review sites, lead platforms and "best electricians in Phoenix" lists. In the EV charger answers, Google AI Mode also cited srpnet.com, the website of a local utility, and pages of individual contractors.
Where US electricians are usually listed (advice): Google Business Profile (it feeds Google Maps), Angi (which also runs HomeAdvisor), Thumbtack, Yelp, the Better Business Bureau and Nextdoor. If you install EV chargers or solar, the installer lists of utilities and equipment makers are worth checking too, where they exist for your area.
How homeowners ask about Phoenix electricians
Our six questions covered a general recommendation (residential work), a specialist job (home EV chargers), value for money, reputation and licensed staff, urgency (same-day emergency service) and an alternative to a well-known company (Parker & Sons). Real customers usually describe the job and the place. Questions worth testing for your own company, written the way people type them:
- "Electrician in Mesa to upgrade a 100 amp panel to 200 amps"
- "Half my house has no power in Scottsdale, who can come today?"
- "Who installs a Level 2 charger in a garage in Chandler and handles the permit?"
- "Licensed electrician in Glendale AZ to add outlets and ceiling fans"
- "Electrician near Arcadia Phoenix for an old house rewiring quote"
Use the suburbs you actually serve and the jobs you want more of. A question without a place in it can return electricians in another city.
Related snapshots: plumbers in Atlanta and heat pump installers in Chicago.
What an electrical contractor can check about how AI assistants name it
Advice: these checks are concrete and most take an hour or less. None of them can promise a mention; they make the facts about your company easy to find and hard to get wrong.
- Give each specialist job its own page. EV charger installation, panel upgrades, rewiring, lighting, generators, solar connections: one clear page per job, saying what you do, for which homes and where. The EV question in this run named a different set of companies.
- State emergency and same-day service plainly. Write when you answer the phone and when you can send someone: "24/7" only if it is true, otherwise the real hours and any after-hours fee. Put the same hours on your Google Business Profile.
- List your service area as text. Name the cities and areas you cover (for example Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, Glendale) on your site, not only as a map image.
- Show your license number. Put your Arizona Registrar of Contractors license number and insurance on the site in text. One of our questions asked about licensed, experienced staff, and it is a plain fact that others can quote correctly.
- Complete your Google Business Profile. All Google AI Mode answers in this run were Maps places. Check the category, service area, hours, current photos of real jobs, and that recent reviews have a reply where one is useful.
- Keep name, address and phone identical. Check Google Business Profile, Angi, Thumbtack, Yelp, the BBB and your own site for the same company name and phone number. Variants of one company's name can end up counted as different names.
- Check the review sites that were cited. Open ConsumerAffairs, Angi, Expertise.com and Thumbtack for electricians in Phoenix. Are you listed? Is your profile current, with the right services and area?
How to check if ChatGPT names your own company
Write five or six questions your customers would ask, with Phoenix or your suburb in them and the jobs you do most, and ask several assistants the same questions. Note who is named and which websites are cited, then repeat in a few weeks, because the answers change. CheckAI checks your own customer questions across the same four assistants and shows the names and the cited websites for each answer; a first check on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode is free.
