Names as the assistants wrote them, grouped when they meant the same business. One run per question: answers change from run to run, so treat this as a snapshot. We are not affiliated with any business listed and don't rank or endorse them. How we measure

What ChatGPT and other assistants named for Denver hair salons

Our data On October 14 we asked ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot six questions a client looking for a hair salon in Denver might ask. All 24 answers came back, and together they named 65 different salons and stylists. 34 of those were named only once, and only 3 were named by all four assistants.

303 Salon LoHi was named in 9 of 24 answers, Studio: A Collective of Stylists in 8 and Deseo Salon & BlowDry in 6, each by all four assistants. Clementine's A Boutique Salon was also named 6 times, but by three assistants, and Goldie x Bob Hair Salon and Fox and Jane Salon 5 times each. This is one run per question, so read the counts as a snapshot, not a ranking.

The assistants also gave lists of different length. Copilot named 46 salons across its 6 answers, Google AI Mode and Gemini 34 each, ChatGPT 28. Some answers named an individual stylist rather than a salon, and the same salon sometimes appeared under two names, for example with and without its neighborhood.

Most questions found little agreement

For three of the six questions, no salon was named by more than two of the four assistants. The question about a complete hair transformation produced 18 different names; the one about open appointments today produced 17, with no overlap beyond two assistants. Only the question about the highest ratings and most experienced stylists brought some agreement: 303 Salon LoHi, Studio: A Collective of Stylists and Forma Collective Salon were each named by three assistants.

The question about coloring long blonde hair was the exception in a different way: an individual colorist, Hair by Natalia, was named by three of the four assistants. A clear specialty can be found by name.

The questions also stretched the category. For the question about good quality at an affordable price, Gemini named two beauty schools and a barbershop. For the question about alternatives to chains like Supercuts, ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode named Supercuts itself first, and Google AI Mode added Great Clips.

Google AI Mode answered with Google Maps places

Our data 5 of Google AI Mode's 6 answers came as Google Maps places: 22 salons in total. Their average rating was 4.9 stars, every one had 4.5 stars or more, and the median number of reviews was about 410. The salon with the fewest reviews still had 141.

That does not show that reviews are the reason a salon was shown. It only describes the places in this snapshot: they had very high ratings and substantial review counts. The data does not show how a different rating or review count would affect an answer.

Where the names come from: websites cited for Denver hair salons

Our data ChatGPT and Copilot attached source links to all 6 of their answers. Google AI Mode did so twice and Gemini not at all, so the cited websites come mostly from ChatGPT and Copilot.

The most-cited websites were bestprosintown.com, a local "best of" directory, and fresha.com, a salon booking platform, with 5 of 24 answers each. Then came mybestdenver.com (4), threebestrated.com and hairsalondirectories.com (3 each). Cited twice each were the salon booking platform phorest.com, groupon.com, yelp.com, and the own websites of two salons, 303 Salon and Deseo.

For the transformation question, Google AI Mode's only links were pages on phorest.com and vagaro.com. For the question about appointments today, ChatGPT cited booksy.com and fresha.com next to salons' own sites. A salon's profile on a booking platform is a public page, not just a calendar.

Where Denver hair salons are usually listed (advice): Google Business Profile (it feeds Google Maps), Yelp, and the booking platform you use, such as Vagaro, Fresha, Booksy or StyleSeat. Local "best of" directories choose their own picks or charge for placement; before you pay for one, check how it selects salons.

How clients ask about Denver hair salons

Our six questions covered a complete transformation, coloring long blonde hair, quality at an affordable price, ratings and experienced stylists, open appointments today, and alternatives to chains like Supercuts. Clients usually ask with a hair type, a service and a neighborhood. Questions worth testing for your own salon, written the way people type them:

  • "Salon in Denver that specializes in curly hair cuts"
  • "How much is balayage at a salon in the Highlands, Denver?"
  • "Color correction specialist in Denver after a box dye mistake"
  • "Hair salon in Capitol Hill, Denver with Saturday appointments"
  • "Stylist in Denver who does bridal hair on location"

Use your own neighborhood, specialties and the clients you want more of. A question with no place in it can return salons in another city.

The same six-question test was run for beauty salons in Austin.

What a hair salon can check about how AI assistants name it

Advice: these checks are practical and you can do them yourself. None of them can promise a mention; they make the facts about your salon easier to find and harder to get wrong.

  1. Name your specialties in the words clients use. Balayage, blonding, color correction, curly cuts, extensions, men's cuts: give each its own section or page, and say which stylist does it. In this run, a colorist known for one specialty was named by three assistants.
  2. Publish a price list as text. "From" prices per service, what a consultation costs, and how long each service takes. The affordable question had 16 different names in four answers; clear prices tell clients whether you belong in that group.
  3. Keep your booking profile in line with your site. Same salon name, address, services and prices on Fresha, Vagaro, Booksy or whatever you use, and on your own site. Booking platforms were among the most-cited sources here.
  4. Show availability in one tap. If you take same-day bookings or walk-ins, say so on your site and Google profile, and make sure the booking link works on a phone. The "appointments today" question was answered partly from booking pages.
  5. Introduce your stylists. Name, years of experience, training and specialties for each stylist. Clients asked for experienced stylists, and some answers named stylists rather than salons. If you work in a collective or rent a chair, link the salon and your own profile both ways.
  6. Complete your Google Business Profile. 5 of 6 Google AI Mode answers came as Maps places. Check the category, services and prices, current photos of real work with the service written in the caption, and reply to recent reviews where it helps.
  7. Check the directories that were cited. Open bestprosintown.com, mybestdenver.com, threebestrated.com and hairsalondirectories.com for Denver. Are you listed? Are your name, address and hours right?

How to check if ChatGPT names your own salon

Write five or six questions your clients would ask, with Denver or your neighborhood in them, and ask several assistants the same questions. Note who is named and which websites are cited, then repeat in a few weeks, because the answers change. CheckAI checks your own customer questions across the same four assistants and shows the names and the cited websites for each answer; a first check on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode is free.

Questions

Do Google reviews matter for a hair salon to be named by ChatGPT?
We can't say what each assistant weighs. What we saw: the 22 salons Google AI Mode showed from Google Maps averaged 4.9 stars, all had 4.5 stars or more, and the smallest had 141 reviews. As advice, keeping your Google listing and review replies current is worth doing for clients anyway.
Does my booking page on Fresha or Vagaro matter for AI mentions?
It can be one of the pages an assistant finds. In our Denver answers fresha.com was cited in 5 of 24 answers, and booking pages on phorest.com and vagaro.com also appeared. Check that your profile there has the right name, services and prices.
Why did ChatGPT and other assistants name beauty schools and chains for hair salons?
In the question about affordable quality, Gemini named two beauty schools, and in the question about alternatives to chains, three assistants named Supercuts itself first. Answers stretch the category, so a salon competes with more than other salons.
How can I check whether ChatGPT names my hair salon?
Ask the questions your clients would ask, with Denver or your neighborhood written in, to several assistants, and repeat them over a few weeks. CheckAI does this with your own questions across four assistants; a first check on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode is free.
