Names as the assistants wrote them, grouped when they meant the same business. One run per question: answers change from run to run, so treat this as a snapshot. We are not affiliated with any business listed and don't rank or endorse them. How we measure
What the answers show about jewelers in Boston
Our data On October 14 we asked ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot six questions a customer in Boston might ask when looking for a jewelry store. All 24 answers came back, and together they named only 32 different jewelers, brands and places. 10 of those were named only once, and 5 jewelers were named by all four assistants.
E.B. Horn Jewelers was named in 18 of 24 answers, by all four assistants, including 5 each from Google AI Mode, Gemini and Copilot. Homsy Jewelers followed with 14 and Shreve, Crump & Low with 10. Shreve, Crump & Low was usually named first or second, at position 1.7 on average. Bostonian Jewelers and Joseph Gann Jewelers appeared in 7 answers each; Joseph Gann came only from Copilot (5) and Gemini (2). This is one run per question, so read the counts as a snapshot, not a ranking.
For a jeweler in Boston, the answers in this run repeatedly included the same 5 to 10 names.
Where the lists opened up
The question about custom engagement rings was the most open. Bostonian Jewelers was named by all four assistants there, Skylight Jewelers by three, and Hannah Florman Fine Jewelry was named first by Google AI Mode and Gemini. Copilot also named Brilliant Earth, a national brand, next to local stores. The question about value for money brought up further names: Khan Diamonds, Boston Diamond Studio, Keezing Kreations and BRAG.
The reviews and quality questions were the most uniform. E.B. Horn Jewelers and Homsy Jewelers were named by all four assistants for the question about trusted jewelers and customer reviews. For high-quality pieces, three assistants named Shreve, Crump & Low first and all four named E.B. Horn Jewelers.
The alternatives question named Tiffany
Asked for local alternatives to Tiffany & Co., Google AI Mode, Gemini and Copilot named Tiffany & Co. itself first. Shreve, Crump & Low and E.B. Horn Jewelers appeared in all four answers. In the value question, Gemini also started with Tiffany & Co. and Cartier.
A building, not a store
For the question about a reputable store near downtown that is open today, Google AI Mode and Gemini named the Jewelers Building, a downtown building with many jewelers inside, as one of the places, next to individual stores. ChatGPT's answer named only one store, Homsy Jewelers.
Google AI Mode answered with Google Maps places
Our data All 6 of Google AI Mode's answers came as Google Maps places, 33 in total. They averaged 4.9 stars, 97 percent had 4.5 stars or more, and the median number of reviews was 171. The jeweler with the fewest reviews had 13. That does not show that reviews are the reason a store was shown; it records the figures for the places in this run.
Which websites the answers cite for jewelry stores
Our data ChatGPT and Copilot attached source links to all 6 of their answers, Google AI Mode to 2 and Gemini to 1. The most-cited websites were threebestrated.com and homsyjewelers.com (6 of 24 answers each), followed by alloutboston.com (4), then Boston Magazine, ebhorn.com, vowsmith.org and a trustanalytica.org jewelry page (3 each). bostonpicks.com, theweddingvowsg.com, influencedigest.com and bostonianjewelers.com were cited twice each, and so was The Knot.
So the sources were a mix of local "best of" and rating lists, wedding and engagement ring guides, Boston Magazine, and the jewelers' own websites. A store's own site was cited about as often as the biggest list site. In the value question, Gemini's only cited sources were the websites of four jewelers.
Where US jewelers are usually listed (advice): Google Business Profile (it feeds Google Maps), Yelp, The Knot for engagement and wedding rings, and the retailer locators of the designer brands you are authorized to sell. Local "best of" lists and city magazines choose their own picks, so you can't list yourself there, but you can check that what they say about you is correct.

How customers ask AI assistants about jewelers in Boston
Our six questions covered high-quality pieces, custom engagement rings, value for money, experienced jewelers and reviews, a store open today near downtown, and local alternatives to Tiffany & Co. Customers often add an occasion, a stone, a service or a budget. Questions worth testing, written the way people type them:
- "Jeweler in Boston that can resize a ring this week"
- "Affordable lab-grown diamond engagement ring in Boston"
- "Watch battery and repair in Back Bay, Boston"
- "Jewelry appraisal for insurance in Boston"
- "Who can redesign my grandmother's ring in Boston?"
Use your own neighborhood, the services you offer and the designers you carry. Engagement ring questions without a place in them can return online brands instead of stores.
What a jeweler can check to show up in AI answers
Advice: these checks are practical and most can be done in an afternoon. None of them can promise a mention; they make the facts about your store easy to find and hard to get wrong.
- Explain your custom ring process. Consultation, design, timeline, price range and what the customer receives, on its own page. Custom engagement rings were the most open question in this run.
- Say what your diamonds come with. Natural or lab-grown, grading reports, return and upgrade policy, in plain text. A customer asking about value needs those facts.
- List your services with turnaround times. Ring sizing, repairs, cleaning, watch batteries, appraisals and redesign of heirloom pieces should each have clear information.
- Name the designers and brands you carry. As text on a brands page, not only as logos. Brand names appeared next to stores in several answers.
- Keep hours and appointments right. If you work by appointment, say so on your site, Google Business Profile and Yelp, with the same hours everywhere. One question asked for a store open today.
- Make your address findable. If your store is inside a jewelers' building or an upper floor, give the floor and suite number and how to get in. Two answers named the building itself next to stores.
- Check the lists that were cited. Open threebestrated.com, alloutboston.com, Boston Magazine and the wedding guides such as vowsmith.org and The Knot. Are you listed, with the right address and services?
How to check whether ChatGPT names your jewelry store
Write five or six questions your customers would ask, with Boston or your neighborhood in them, and ask several assistants. Note who is named, which brands appear and which websites are cited, then repeat in a few weeks, because the answers change. CheckAI checks your own customer questions across the same four assistants and shows the names and cited websites for every answer; a first check on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode is free. Our guide on how to check if ChatGPT names your business walks through the manual version.
