Names as the assistants wrote them, grouped when they meant the same business. One run per question: answers change from run to run, so treat this as a snapshot. We are not affiliated with any business listed and don't rank or endorse them. How we measure
What the answers show about real estate agents in Portland
Our data On October 14 we asked ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot six questions a home buyer or seller in Portland, Oregon might ask about real estate agencies. All 24 answers came back. Together they named 64 different agencies, teams and individual agents, and 30 of them came up only once. Three names came from all four assistants. It was one run per question, so the counts are a snapshot, not a ranking.
Lovejoy Real Estate was named in 13 of 24 answers, by all four assistants, 5 of them from ChatGPT. Own It Northwest followed with 9 answers (5 from Google AI Mode), Stephen FitzMaurice with 8 (5 from Copilot) and Works Real Estate with 7, also from all four assistants. Living Room Realty was named in 5 answers, and a group of names such as Matin Real Estate, Windermere Realty Trust and Nick Shivers Team in 4 each.
A few names came back across questions and assistants, but about half of all names appeared only once. The names varied between the six questions in this run.
Agents, teams and brokerages side by side
The answers did not stick to agencies. Stephen FitzMaurice, Jeremy Wilkerson, Claire Paris and April Stewart were named as individual agents, Nick Shivers Team and PDX Green Team as teams, and one Google AI Mode answer named an agent together with the brokerage, Living Room Realty. National brands appeared as well: Keller Williams, eXp Realty, RE/MAX, Compass and Coldwell Banker Bain among them.
Some names were not agencies at all. In the question about customer reviews, ChatGPT named Zillow, Realtor.com and Expertise.com next to three agencies, as places to look. Gemini named Zillow and Redfin in the question about fees.
The fee question changed the field
Asked about value and commission fees, Change Realty, Clever Real Estate and Redfin Portland were each named by three assistants. Google AI Mode listed flat-fee and for-sale-by-owner services such as Lowes Flat Fee Realty and ByOwnerOregon. Lovejoy Real Estate, the most-named agency overall, did not appear in this question.
The Keller Williams question
Asked about an alternative to Keller Williams in Portland, ChatGPT and Gemini named Keller Williams first. Google AI Mode and Copilot did not name it. Copilot instead listed nine names, including several national brands.
Google Maps: high stars, many reviews
Our data Google AI Mode answered all six questions with Google Maps places, 29 in total. They averaged 4.92 stars, and 96% had 4.5 stars or more. The median place had 149 reviews, while the place with the fewest had just 1.
That does not explain why a place appeared. It records the review counts in this run: the median was 149 and one place had a single review.
Which websites the answers cite for real estate agencies
Our data ChatGPT and Copilot linked sources in all 6 of their answers, Google AI Mode in 4 and Gemini in 2. The most-cited website was zillow.com (7 of 24 answers), followed by listwithclever.com (5), the site of a referral service that publishes guides about agents and fees, and realtor.com (4). Next came expertise.com, threebestrated.com, realestate.usnews.com and realtrends.com, an industry publication that ranks brokerages, with 3 each. Review sites such as reviews.birdeye.com, ratemyagent.com, trustindex.io and angi.com appeared in 2 answers each.
For the fee question, ChatGPT cited oregon.gov, oregonrealtors.org and reddit.com, and Google AI Mode also cited reddit.com. For the question about an agency available today, ChatGPT's nine links were mostly news and business media, such as bizjournals.com, housingwire.com and opb.org. Agency websites were cited as well, for example funhouse-realty.com in 2 answers.
Where real estate agents are usually listed and reviewed (advice): the Google Business Profile (it feeds Google Maps), agent profiles on Zillow and Realtor.com, review platforms such as RateMyAgent and Birdeye, Yelp, agent-matching services such as HomeLight, and the member directory of your local Realtor association. Buyers and sellers can also check a license with the Oregon Real Estate Agency.

How buyers and sellers ask AI assistants about real estate agents in Portland
Our six questions covered buying a home, first-time buyers, value and commission fees, customer reviews, an agency available today and alternatives to Keller Williams. Real clients usually add the neighborhood, the type of home and their situation. Questions worth testing, written the way people type them:
- "Realtor in Portland who knows condos in the Pearl District"
- "Listing agent in Beaverton for an older ranch house that needs work"
- "Buyer's agent in Portland who has worked with VA loans"
- "Agent in Lake Oswego who can list my house next week, I am relocating"
- "How much does a flat fee listing cost in Portland Oregon and who offers it?"
Use the neighborhoods and suburbs where you actually sell, and the kinds of deals you want more of.
What a real estate agency can check to show up in AI answers
Advice: these checks are concrete and most take an hour or two. None of them can promise a mention; they make the facts about you and your brokerage easy to find and hard to misread. Follow your state's advertising rules for licensees when you change how names appear.
- Connect agent, team and brokerage. The answers named all three. Each agent page, team page and outside profile should state the agent's name, the team and the brokerage in the same spelling.
- Write neighborhood pages. Pages about the areas you work in, such as Sellwood, Laurelhurst, Beaverton or Lake Oswego, with homes you have sold there and what buyers there ask about.
- Explain how you charge. The fee question turned to discount and flat-fee models. A plain page on how your commission works, what is included and what is negotiable lets you take part in that comparison.
- Keep Zillow and Realtor.com profiles current. Both were among the most-cited websites. Check recent sales, service areas, photos and reviews, and that the brokerage shown is right.
- Collect reviews where clients look. The Maps places had a median of 149 reviews. Ask clients after closing for a review on your Google Business Profile and one agent profile, not on five sites at once.
- Give first-time buyers their own page. One question asked about them. Describe how you work with first-time buyers, the steps, and the local programs you know, in text.
- Show how quickly you respond. One question asked for an agency available today. Office hours, how fast you return calls and whether you do showings on weekends belong on the site and in the Google Business Profile.
How to check whether ChatGPT names your real estate agency
Write down five or six questions your buyers and sellers would ask, with Portland or your neighborhood and the type of home, and put them to several assistants. Note who is named, whether it is you, your team or your brokerage, and which websites are cited. Repeat after a few weeks, because answers change. CheckAI checks your own customer questions across the same four assistants and shows the names and cited websites for every answer; a first check on ChatGPT and Google AI Mode is free. Our guide on how to check if ChatGPT names your business walks through the manual version.
